Should I go on a normal resort vacation or a cruise?
Me and my family want to on a vacation over new years. We can’t decide if we want to go to a resort in either cancun or the bahamas, or go on a caribbean cruise. Which one would you do and why? And if anyone knows about new years in cancun, bahamas, or on a cruise ship please let me know?
Ive been on a cruise ship that went to st thomas, st maarten and the bahamas, and I’ve also been to a resort in the mayan riviera, and ive also been to cancun. If I had to choose I would say go on a cruise because they are so much more fun than a resort. Not that resorts arent fun, theres just so much more going on on a cruise, and its fun being able to visit numerous places on one vacation. Cancun however is an extremly fun city to be in, and the culture is just amazing there. I went to coco bongo and that was the highlight of my trip in cancun, also went ziplining and swimming through the grotos, and snorkelling the reef. If you have any specific questions I can answer, just message me, or post some more details and I’ll follow this question.
How do you move on from Ms perfect?????????.?
I met her 3 months ago at work, she came in to buy some stuff and I regretted not asking her out. I didn’t see her at all until 3 weeks ago when I bumped into her at a skytrain and I asked her for her number and to hangout. I thought that it was fate that led me to this but I was so wrong. She told me from before hand that she wasn’t looking for a relationship since she just got out of a bad one but we still went for a coffee. At the end of the hangout, she mentioned going to work at a cruise ship since she has no attachments with anyone yet. I wanted to tell her how I felt so I called her right after and told her. She said that I’m really sweet and a really nice guy but she wasn’t lying about getting out of a bad relationship. She’s been with 2 guys over the past 8 years and now that she’s single she feels free and independant to travel around the world. She kept apologising and told me that I will find someone better than her and that she was flattered because I told her the reasons why I was so crazy about her. She’s so perfect, everything that I’m looking for in a woman. She doesn’t like to shop, isn’t materialistic, doesn’t like putting makeup on, really mature and experienced in life and really, really nice. The nicest person that I’ve ever come across *she’s 28 and I’m 20(. I can’t stand girls my age, they’re too immature, spoiled and unprepared for the real world. She even mentioned that it won’t be a good idea for us to hangout anymore since I’ll become more attached and she’ll feel even more guilty. I’m good with moving on from rejections but this one has hit me bad. How do I move on from this? =(.
First of all, not all women your age are immature, I’m 21 and smarter and classier then most older women I know. Second, it sound like you have a school boy crush. 3 to 6 weeks is not nearly enough time to realize that she is miss perfect. It seems like you were expecting too much from the beginning, and that’s why it hurts so much now. The fact that you told her how you feel is great, at least you will never regret not telling her. But truth is she is ready to move on with life, and you forming an attraction to her just makes it all the more difficult. I think you pictured her as perfect because she had a lot of ideal qualities you look for, and she must also be attractive. But in time you will grow and realize that other women are out there with all the same great attributes so hopefully you will find it easier to move on. Good luck!
Help me plan a cruise vacation…?
I am planning a cruise vacation for December. Does anyone know anything about Norwegian Cruise Lines? I’ve been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean, but not Norwegian. The cruise would be on the Norwegian Dream that will go out of Houston, Texas. Is this a nice ship? Do they have good shows? How is the food? What are the cabins like? Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.
I have been on many Norwegian ships, including twice on the Dream; once before it was stretched and once after. Norwegian was at one time my favorite cruise line until the line was bought by Star Cruises and they instituted the "Freestyle Cruising".
Now I do not recommend Norwegian because of their "freestyle" cruising. It means that you do not have to specify a dining option; don’t have a table and waiter assigned to you. It means you can go to dinner in the main dining room any time of the evening.
But it also means that you may be standing in line awaiting a table on some days (like we had to a couple times); not what you want on a cruise. Since you go when you want, you rarely get the same waiter and so never really get to know your waiter and he/she never learns what you prefer. The option to this being pushed on NCL is their optional dining which you must pay to use. The dining options can cost $10 to $20 a person for dinner each night; not what you want after paying for a cruise. Then optional restaurants are nice, including French, Sushi, Tex-Mex, Italian, steak house restaurants. But who wants to go pay to eat on a cruise ship where all the meals are supposed to be included. We always skipped the optional restaurants and just got to the main dining early.
The ship was a good one, not as new and modern as some of the newer NCL, Princess and RC ships. It is not one of the ships that has a majority balcony and suites cabins. But it has nice features. I don’t remember the shows and they change those periodically anyway.
Since Star took over NCL the line has an Asian flavor; Star is an Oriental company. Some of the performers and musicians were Asian and they had Karioke every evening. Not my cup of tea. You will enjoy, but it will be diferent from what you had on Carnival and RC.
Do You Get Sea Sick On A Cruise
Choosing your cruise is one of the most important steps of your cruise experience. Finding the best cruise agent is essential. Knowing which liner will best suit your needs, style, which destination ports will be of interest to you and when you should travel, are some of the many aspects which should be considered.
This is why a cruise agent is such an important part of your cruise vacation decision.
Below are just a few of the aspects that a good cruise agent will discuss with you during your cruise consultation. Be sure to make notes of any special questions you may have before you speak with them.
The Five W’s
1. Who: Knowing who is travelling is one of the more obvious questions but one which must be carefully considered. Are you a single traveler, a couple, a family, or a group? Are there small children traveling or would you prefer an adult only ship?
Would you prefer a younger or more mature onboard age group? These are some of the important factors which must be considered when selecting the right cruise ship, and some of the many things that your cruise agentwill discuss with you.
2. What Ship to Choose: Each luxury cruise line has many benefits and aspects that make it unique in the industry. Some ships are intimate vessels carrying approximately a hundred passengers, whereas others set sail with several hundred to over a thousand passengers.
The onboard atmosphere of some ships is more formal, with traditional dining venues, whereas others offer a more casual setting with an open dining experience.
Matching you with the ship that will best suit your needs and style should be your first priority. Let the cruise agent help you to choose the ship that is right for you.
3. Where: With over 65% of the world being covered by water, it seems as though the “Where” possibilities are truly endless. Where does one start? How do you choose? Well, one way is by knowing when you can travel to each location and what time of year the itineraries are offered.
Also, what do the destinations offer and are the ports of interest to you? Some of the more common destination choices are: the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the South Pacific, the Mediterranean, the Baltic, and Africa & Asia. And for the brave what about the titanic route, you may see some nice icebergs.
Your cruise agent should be happy to discuss the many options being offered. In addition, once you have decided on your cruise destination, a good cruise agent will provide you with in-depth information on pre-cruise and post-cruise stays, as well as private shore excursion options.
4. When: When to cruise usually depends on one of two things: when you are able to go or when the itinerary you are interested in taking is being offered. The first consideration, when you are able to go, is easily determined.
Once you establish your time frame, your cruise specialist is able to provide you with a selection of cruises being offered at that time. If you personal availability is flexible, often times, the second consideration, when the itinerary you are interested in taking is being offered, is another way of choosing when to go, as certain itineraries are only offered at certain times of the year.
Your cruise agent can help you to select the best time to travel to your destination and which itineraries are being offered.
5. Why are you traveling: The question is, far too often, overlooked by travelers, and is one of the more important questions to consider. Are you traveling for rest and relaxation?
Are you traveling to learn about a specific destination or culture? Are you interested in a learning or life enrichment experience? Or is it a special occasion (i.e. a honeymoon, an anniversary, a family reunion, etc.)?
These scenarios are just a few of the many reasons that you may be considering a cruise and knowing “Why” you are traveling, will help your cruise specialist match you with the cruse line, ship and itinerary that will best suit your needs.
As you can see, there are many factors that go into the planning of your cruise vacation. Researching, defining, and refining all of these variables is why your cruise agent is such an important part of your decision and selection process.
Hope you have a wonderful cruise. By the way,do you get seasick? The chances on a cruise are very slim. However it is always advisable to take some sea sick pills with you; just in case.

The Definitive Guide to Going on the Perfect Cruise – Part Three
So we’re still on a cruise, on our way to some enchanted land. It’s a great weather today, and the air is warm, and so are everyone’s smiles. Here’s more of what you can expect in a ship cruise.
Onboard Activities
All in all, it’s virtually impossible to be bored on a cruise ship. There are ongoing activities throughout the day, which are usually free of charge. Contests, games, bingo, clay shooting, dance, Tai Chi and golf lessons, karaoke and sing-a-longs, etc. Swimming or relaxing in a spa or hot tub.
Children and Young Teenagers on Board
All mainstream cruise ships offer organized programmes that cater to the entire family. These programmes are usually categorized by age, which include age-appropriate activities.
Not Inclue in Cruise’s Fees
Tips
Beverages
Spa Treatments
Hairdressers
Dry cleaning
Laundry services
Shore Excursions
Guidelines to Extra Expenses
When paying for your cruise the tips will NOT be included, although you can pre-pay your tips if the cruise liner will agree to it. Some cruise lines automatically add the recommended tip amount to your account at the time of sailing. You can decide to adjust this amount based on the service received.
The onboard hospitality crew and general staffing crew earn much of their money in tips. Make no mistake, they do EARN IT – their shifts are long and they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and well-looked after on your holiday. You won’t find better waiters, stewards, bartenders, and cabin staff anywhere.
Most cruise lines have ‘recommended tipping rates’ that can start at $10.00 per day per guest. These tips are then distributed among the personnel that service your every need for the included cruise items such as stateroom stewards, waiters, bartenders, and general cabin staff.
Spa Treatments
All cruise ships offer excellent technicians for spa treatments such as massage, facials, waxing, manicure, and pedicures. Hairdressers are available as well. Of course, all of these are extra, but are they worth it, and you’ll always look your best without much effort. Another tip, book in as soon as you get on board for your first service and you can book ongoing services easily or you’ll miss out. These services fill up very quickly.
Shore Excursions
Unfortunately, shore excursions are not included. There are dozens of things to do when your ship docks at the beautiful exotic destinations. Don’t let your next holiday turn into a fiasco. Cruise lines make it extremely easy for you to book excursions on-line even before you board the ship. If you prefer you can book shore excursions once you board.
The Best Hints to Remember
Budget for your on board expenses and include the spending money for any on shore shopping excursions.
Keep track of your spending by retaining all receipts
Check your account balance each day.
Book your shore excursions ahead of time so you won’t be disappointed.
Take care when going on tour alone. Even though most people on shore rely on tourists for their income, it’s easy to become prey to misadventure.
Don’t purchase any foodstuffs that are suspicious. Rather be safe than sorry.
Don’t buy any food that cannot be consumed before you reach your departure port.
Don’t buy anything on shore if you believe it may be confiscated by customs once you are home.
The best tip to remember is to check everything with your travel agent before paying for your cruise. If you need to find a travel agent in a hurry just browse free online classifieds, and do some shopping around for the best prices. Ask questions and then ask some more. They are there to assist you to have a really good holiday. If your travel agent doesn’t know much about the cruise line then it may be better to find another agent, otherwise you can get in touch directly with the cruise line. Bon voyage!
